Diani Census
Category: Human - Primate Conflict Resolution, Primate Rescue/Rehabilitation | Date: Sep 04 2007 | By: admin
Diani colobus census was carried out last month with the help of the volunteers.
Now the data is being entered into the computer for analysis and will be ready next week.
However, road accidents are still taking toll on the primates in Diani. So, more must be done on educating the public to change their attitude towards drivind too fast on the beach road. This I say because last week we have lost one colobus monkey through road accident and one vervet is recuperating in the quarantine cage with injured head.
Please help in conserving the primates.

So many changes! I hope the census tally has encouraging news and that the new home troops adjust as well as the last ones. You guys are always in my thoughts,
Alicia

I tried to buy a copy of, “Diani’s Monkeys - Eley, Robert and Kahumbu, Paula. (1997)”, from colobustrust.org for a year and, though I finally did get a answer once, they never replied with the payment info and, of course, that email address went defunct. Is there any way to get a copy, please?

TO: Kees … I am in the USA … I would need it mailed to me?

Jim, I am afraid we are out of stock of these books at the moment. When we get some more in I will let you know. Also, Kees, with the last count there were under 300 colobus in Diani. We hope to undertake a complete census soon but are short of funds at the moment and with the bleak outlook I doubt we will be able to before april. Will keep u updated. Gwili
